Customization Process

Regarding custom tinplate boxes, in addition to regular box shapes, we also offer custom services for special shapes with child-resistant (safety) locks. Our standard customization process is as follows:

I. Preliminary Planning: Clarifying Products and Requirements

①Product Use and Industry: This determines whether food-grade certification (such as FDA) is required, as well as the requirements for internal coatings (e.g., food-grade coatings).

②Product Size and Capacity: Provide the dimensions of the inner items or the desired Length × Width × Height (in millimeters), or the diameter and height of the box. This is the most crucial data.

③Child-Resistant Lock Feature: Confirm whether the child lock function needs to be added.

④Design Artwork and LOGO: Prepare the original design files. AI, CDR, or PDF formats are recommended. The color mode must be set to CMYK, and please specify any Pantone (spot) color codes.

⑤Order Quantity.

II. Core Parameters: Materials and Processes

1、Material Selection:

Tinplate (Tin-plated Steel): This is the industry standard. Its surface is coated with a layer of tin, which effectively prevents rust and corrosion. It is essential to use tin-plated tinplate rather than cheaper “base plate iron” (blackplate), otherwise, the boxes will rust extremely easily.

Frosted Tin: The surface undergoes a froasting treatment, offering a more premium texture and better scratch resistance, but the cost is higher.

2、Material Thickness:

Common thicknesses range from 0.19mm to 0.35mm. The standard regular use is 0.25mm. Thicker is not always better; the appropriate thickness should be selected based on the box size and structural strength to avoid over-engineering (unnecessary quality surplus).

3、Printing and Surface Finishes:

4-Color Printing (CMYK): Overlays multiple colors using black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. Suitable for complex color patterns, but slight color deviations may occur.

Spot Color Printing (Pantone): Uses pre-mixed specific colors. The colors are more saturated and accurate, but the cost is higher.

Common Surface Treatments: Varnish (glossy), Matte Varnish (matte finish), Gloss-over-Matte (local contrast), Explosion Oil (special texture), Embossing (3D patterns), etc. These processes significantly enhance visual and tactile experiences but also increase costs.

3、Food-grade material, inside coating and gold varnish double protection

All made of food-grade tinplate, can add food-grade inside coating/gold varnish according to product characteristics, effectively prevent contents from directly contacting the tinplate, lock food original freshness. Pass FDA/ROHS and other national standard certifications, ensure packaging safety and compliance.

4、Substrate thickness and tin coating weight precise control

Conventionally use 0.25mm substrate thickness tinplate, equipped with 5.6g/m² standard tin coating weight, excellent corrosion resistance and rust prevention performance. Substrate thickness supports flexible options from 0.19mm to 0.35mm, meet different rigidity requirements.

5、Select imported prime tinplate, surface treatment process advanced

Material can upgrade to imported prime grade A tinplate, guarantee quality from the source. Surface effect provide bright finish and matte finish optional, combined with 3D embossing/debossing and other stamping processes, make packaging have more premium touch and visual impact.
